20 Jun 2014 On 13 June, scientists at the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) realized they had sent live anthrax to researchers at lower-security labs rather than harmless samples of the pathogen. Anthrax is deadly in most forms and can affect both humans and animals. The spores are highly contagious and are considered a major biological warfare risk. Interviews, CCTV and key card data has been used to to identify anyone who might have been inside one of the two labs.
