Partly to discourage refugees seeking to come to the US as he curbs immigration avenues, Trump wants to create safe zones for them in Syria [Xinhua]
Russia is calling on the US to consider all possible aspects and dangers associated with creating a safe zone for refugees within Syrian terrtory.
The statement from the Kremlin on Thursday came a day after US President Donald Trump said in a TV interview that part of his limiting Muslim immigration and refugees coming to the US would be to create a safe zone in Syria.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow had not been consulted on the idea.
“It is important that this does not worsen the situation with the refugees,” Russian news agency TASS quoted Peskov as saying.
“All the possible consequences should be considered,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Russia said that it had delivered relief and humanitarian assistance to 3,500 civilians in formerly besiged cities and towns.
The Russian military has also been demining civilian centers and removing explosives from homes and mosques.
