Police say that the teacher was murdered by an unidentified 18-year old ethnic Chechen who was shot to death by police. Paty showed his class cartoons that were reportedly the notorious caricatures published by French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, which itself was targeted in another terror attack back in 2015.
