Florida courts convicted a former Port St. Lucie cop for two counts of felony unlawful sex with a 16-year-old girl, sentencing him to two concurrent 40-month terms.
Myron Andravious Pratt was given a “lifesaving award” in 2013 for providing CPR to a fallen bicyclist, taking over for a good samaritan who originally found the bike rider at the scene, and Pratt later visited the man at the hospital as you can see below in the video.
Pratt was 30 years old when the 16-year-old victim picked up from the police station on two occasions in her car.
They then drove to another location to copulate.
However, Pratt did keep in line with the department’s mott0 “Courage, Knowledge, Integrity” by stopping at a convenience store for condoms before engaging in unlawful sex with the girl, who was his student at a local community college.
According to the original local television report in December 2014:
The girl’s mother contacted the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office after discovering suspicious texts and calls on her daughter’s cell phone. Investigators interviewed the girl, and seized her phone and computer.
“They had a discussion on the dangers of what was going on and thought it was best they break off the relationship… that’s when our investigation began because that’s when the mother discovered the text messages that concerned her enough to call us,” St. Lucie County chief deputy Garry Wilson said.
During the news conference, a sheriff’s officer spokesman urged any other possible victims who may have had contact with Pratt to come forward.
At the media press conference announcing the arrest, Port St. Lucie Police Chief John Bolduc said Pratt’s alleged actions were “embarrassing” and should not reflect on the 284 other employees in the department.
“This is unacceptable behavior and incomprehensible for a police officer to engage in this type of behavior,” Bolduc added.
Florida’s age of consent is 18 for people over the age of 24 and 16-years-old for those under the age of 23, which is known as a “Romeo and Juliet” law.
The now 31-year-old Florida cop Pratt had previously worked at the Vero Beach Police Department further up the state’s “Treasure Coast” from 2011 to 2013.
The Port St. Lucie cop had only been on the job for 15 months, and was charged with ten criminal counts, but ultimately only convicted of two.
But Pratt is now a registered sex offender for having a 16-year-old girl meet him at the police station, from where they drove in her car to another location to have sex according to her complaint to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s office.
