Dan Kovalik just returned from Venezuela, and we talk about US meddling there and many other countries.Kovalik is an attorney for the Steelworkers union, and served as an international election observer in Venezuela last year.
We open with congratulations to Kovalik for his 2017 book, The Plot to Scapegoat Russia, which was accurately skeptical of the Russiagate narrative.
The we get a candid report on conditions in Venezuela, with a number of contradictions of corporate media coverage. Kovalik addresses the power outages, the general calm in Caracas and other places he visited, and the sheer hypocrisy of Trump advisors who claim to be humanitarians.
Then we talk about Kovalik's new book, The Plot to Control the World: How the US Spent Billions to Change the Outcome of Elections Around the World.
The book recounts American intervention in elections and regime change operations in many countries, including Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Chile, Brazil, Congo, Iran, Vietnam, Nicaragua and Ukraine. We discuss the history, and present-day blunders like Trump's plan to cut aid to the Central American countries that the US destabilized and are now producing a steady flow of migrants to the US.
