Data on Amazon Rainforest Fires Tell a Much Different Story Than Social Media

The number of fires in Brazil this year is about the same as 2016 and less than 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012. Data from the National Institute for Space Research in Brazil, which works with NASA, shows that 2019 is not out of line.
