The government gives an excludable good away for free: roads, parks, education, medicine, whatever. Then some economist advocates privatization of one of these freebies. Technocrats may offer some technical objections to privatization. Normal people, however, will respond with a disgusted rhetorical question: "So only the rich should have roads/parks/education/medicine/whatever."

One has to hand it to Donald Trump. Not just any repellent real estate mogul and reality television personality could become an even worse President than George W. Bush.
Knowing you need to make a change, you’ve set your goal. On Day 1, all goes well. By Day 2, the pull of old habits is strong. By dint of willpower, you keep your resolve. Little did you know, you have placed yourself on thin ice. Willpower is a limited resource and relying on willpower to change habits won’t get you as far as you hoped.
Allowing transgenders to join the military is contrary to a directive from the Commander-in-Chief President Trump. The Trump administration appealed Judge Kollar-Kitelly’s decision but was rejected. Few transgenders can afford the $100,000 sex-change surgery. Making it free in the military is an incentive for transgenders to enlist. Because of this, the military eventually may have the highest proportion of transgenders of any 'professional' group in the country.
At least two protesters are dead as a result of the wave of civil disobedience that has gripped Iran since last Thursday against soaring food prices and unemployment. The state television station reported that neither police nor military have fired any shots, yet two men are dead. They blame 'Takfiri' foreigners, referring to Sunni fundamentalists such as ISIS and the Al Nusra Front, insinuating these were false-flag killings. [...]
Minimum wage supporters see almost endless benefits despite the economic destruction that characterizes minimum wage laws. They see miracles of multiplying prosperity, increased income, and more jobs coming from minimum wage hikes, a form of economic magic enacted in state capitals, by city councils, and the federal government. But once we trace the long-term effects on all groups in the economy, we should easily understand that the minimum wage will not have overall positive effects.
I love Thailand. I’ve been going there for 4 decades and have explored every part of the country— from Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle, through Mae Hong Son, Chaing Mai, Udon Thani, down through Hua Hin, Ko Samui (back when there were no hotels, no phone service and no airport), Surat Thani, Phuket and Yala. And, of course Bangkok. They call it the Land of Smiles and the Thai people are the biggest asset the country has, of course.

The original question the FBI investigation of the Trump campaign was to answer was a simple one: Did he do it?
Judge Roy Moore Moore filed a lawsuit to prevent Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill from certifying Jones as the winner until after an investigation of possible fraud, but it was dismissed, and Jones was confirmed. It is important to remember that Merrill obtained a court order to destroy the election records to prevent a recount. Moore's lawsuit cited numerous irregularities including out-of state voters (verified by video evidence), the discovery of pre-marked ballots for Jones, and the destruction of voter records.
Video shows convoys carrying 3,500 ISIS fighters and their families being transported out of Raqqa, along with 10 trucks loaded with weapons, just before the city was fully recaptured by Syrian forces. The trucks were hired by the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces that has been supported by the US. The deal for a safe departure was made with the knowledge of the US-led coalition. The militants and mercenaries were transported deeper into Syria and to Turkey. [...]

The strategic ethos of the Trump administration appears to be settling in to a variant of the old "selective cooperation" approach, buttressed by Trump's own personal assessment that U.S. diplomats were too keen to offer concessions and inducements to other countries to get their support when that support would have materialized in the end.
