(ANTIMEDIA) — In an interview with Louisiana radio station WFPK last week, singer/songwriter and music producer Moby elaborated on statements he previously posted on social media in February of 2017 claiming he had insider information from “friends in DC” connecting the Trump administration and the Russian government.
In the post, the DJ claimed the Russian dossier on Trump was “100% real,” accused the Trump administration of being in collusion with the Kremlin “since day one,” and among other things, predicted the administration would provoke war with Iran, saying “the Trump administration needs a war, most likely with Iran. at present they are putting U.S. warships off the coast of Iran in the hope that Iran will attack one of the ships and give the U.S. a pretense for invasion.”
Moby explained to WFPK’s Kyle Meredith in the recent interview that years of touring and spending time in New York and D.C. resulted in friendships with members of the intelligence community. He said:
“I guess it was about a year ago, we were having dinner and they were really concerned partially based on this…Fusion GPS report on Trump essentially being run as a Russian agent and these are some active and former CIA agents who were truly concerned. They were like, they were like, ‘This is the Manchurian candidate, like he [Putin] has a Russian agent as the President of the United States.’”
“So they passed on some information to me and they said, like, ‘Look, you have more of a social media following than any of us do, can you please post some of these things just in a way that … sort of put it out there.’”
He went on to say he didn’t know the extent of the collusion but contended there is plenty of evidence to suggest “the Trump administration is really in bed with the Russians in a really pernicious way.”
“It’s really disturbing and it’s going to get quite a lot darker. Like the depths of the Trump family in business and their involvement with organized crime, sponsored terrorism, Russian oligarchs, it’s really dark. I guess we should all, like, fasten our seatbelts and hold on.”
When Meredith pointed out that Moby’s tone had changed noticeably since his original posts last year, the musician responded,“I was operating under this naive assumption that our elected officials in the Senate and the House would be interested in investigating possible collusion between the executive foreign branch and a hostile foreign power.” He added that he had been left pessimistic by the realization that many politicians “seemed to be putting party loyalty ahead of country and decency.”
