Whose chillin' in the Polar (Arctic) Vortex? And, how 'bout that ship in Antarctica?

Me. Me. Me..... How about you?Day 2 of the super chill. The furnace hasn't stopped. It is so windy, it keeps you up at night. Temp- Minus 16 C. Wind chill- Minus 29 C. White out conditionsToday Yesterday

Parts of the US and Canada are braced for potentially record-breaking low temperatures as a blast of arctic air blows across North America.A winter storm has already blanketed areas of Canada and the north-eastern US with up to 2ft (60cm) of snow. Some 3,700 flights were cancelled on Monday, on top of thousands grounded over the weekend.Schools have been closed in several US states and residents urged to stay indoors for their own safety. The storm and the deep cold have been blamed for 16 deaths in recent days.

And, of course, as if on cue,  the carbon cult is saying this is because of anthropogenic global warming. It is the ready made answer for everything. Hurricane: AGW Prostitution- AGWNever mind that there are a myriad of reasons for hurricanes. And prostitution has always been about drug abuse, alcohol and impoverishment...and no one has cared previously. When everything is a nail, it all needs to be bashed with a hammer! And every situation, every imaginable human ill can be blamed on AGW. If you are so inclined.Digression: I feel for the homeless and there are so many of them..... but, no one blames that on AGW. Wonder why?) So, how about that ship stuck in the ice in Antarctica?   AGW group frozen in Antarctic iceOh, the delicious irony in that news...

While seeking evidence of (anthropogenic) global warming in the coldest place on earth, a collection of climate change scientists and tourists have been rescued from their ice-bound ship trapped in record high sea-ice.  The Washington Post reported Sept. 23, 2013 that Antarctic ice had expanded for the second straight year.

"Antarctic sea ice has grown to a record large extent for a second straight year, baffling scientists seeking to understand why this ice is expanding rather than shrinking in a  warming world."

The expedition's rescue costs continue to add up as The Sydney Morning Herald reports Jan. 07, 2014

The US icebreaker Polar Star (which as luck would have it was in Sydney) is going in to free the Russian research vessel and its intended rescuer, the Chinese icebreaker Xue Long - both stuck in the ice.

The expedition leader Chris Turney, a professor of climate change at Australia’s University of New South Wales, told Fox News on Dec. 30, 2013 "We're stuck in our own experiment. Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up."

Chris Turney: If sea ice is disappearing what are you stuck in? And by the way Arctic ice mass has increased also, for two years running.Who are the deniers now? Himalayan Ice has also expandedJust another mistaken climate model..And speaking of climate modelling...........

According to a study released earlier this year by German scientist Hans von Storch et al (2013) "Can climate models explain global warming?",

Global warming stopped in 1998. Top climate scientists admit global warming forecasts were wrong Oops, that's an inconvenient truth.

“Public climate and energy policies should be based on scientific evidence, not models,” says Gregory, noting that reliance on theoretical climate models rather than actual data can cause costly problems. Rescue estimates stand at $400,000., and rising to be paid by Australian taxpayers.

There was a study released in 2013Can climate models explain the recent stagnation in global warming? It received little to no attention, since, it questions and does not conform with the agenda. It seems the science is not settled. But then, is it ever?  Can climate models explain the recent stagnation in global warming? Hans von Storch Armineh Barkhordarian Klaus Hasselmann and Eduardo Zorita Institute for Coastal Research, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Geesthacht, Germany(2) Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology, Hamburg, Germany

In recent years, the increase in near-surface global annual mean temperatures has emerged as considerably smaller than many had expected. We investigate whether this can be explained by contemporary climate change scenarios. In contrast to earlier analyses for a ten-year period  that indicated consistency between models and observations at the 5% confidence level, we find that the continued warming stagnation over fifteen years, from 1998 -2012, is no longer consistent with model projections even at the 2% confidence level. Of the possible causes of the inconsistency, the underestimation of internal natural climate variability on decadal time scales is a plausible candidate, but the influence of unaccounted external forcing factors or an overestimation of the model sensitivity to elevated greenhouse gas concentrations cannot be ruled out. The first cause would have little impact of the expectations of longer term anthropogenic climate change, but the second and particularly the third would

This questioning of climate models vs real data is related to the last IPCC report showing no warming despite claimed record carbon emissions.
