Australia’s Finkel Review Ignores 25 Key Climate Emergency Realities & Advocates Long Term Gas & Coal Use
Climate criminal Australia is among world leaders in per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate change inaction, and in exports of coal, gas, iron ore and methanogenically-derived meat. However the Finkel Review chaired by Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Alan Finkel advocates continued gas and coal use for over 50 years, and utterly ignores the worsening climate emergency, the worsening[Read More...]

Valuing Human Life In The UK
Arnold Turling is a very angry and unhappy man — vindicated but at what cost. Three years ago, he advised the All Party Parliamentary Rescue Group that cheap flammable insulation filler inside the new waterproof cladding and lack of a sprinkler system made buildings like Grenfell Tower a disaster waiting to happen. Mr. Turling is a Chartered Surveyor as[Read More...]

New Cold War in the Indian Ocean
A new Cold War is brewing in the Indian Ocean, with an informal alliance of the United States, India, Australia, Japan on one side and China on the other. While tensions in the ocean are not yet as pitched as in the hotly contested South China Sea, the potential for conflict is unmistakably rising in the high stakes strategic theater.

Germany, Austria vs. US Senate: America and Europe on Collision Course
Germany and Austria have lashed out against US Senate for approving a legislation tightening sanctions on Russia. The bill has a provision that enables the United States to impose sanctions on European firms involved in financing Russian energy export pipelines to Europe. European companies could be fined for breaching US law. In a joint statement, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern accused the US of threatening European economic interests, describing it as an illegal attempt to boost US gas exports.

It Doesn’t Matter Who Controls the Military
There are more than 8,000 troops still fighting in America’s longest war. According to Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, we need about 3,000 more. The idea that 3,000 troops will change a decade and a half long stalemate seems dubious, but that’s the number Mattis suggests. Others in the administration are reportedly arguing that that … Continue reading "It Doesn’t Matter Who Controls the Military"

Where Is Israel’s Anti-Establishment Leader?
When I was young, there was a joke: "There is no one like you – and that’s a good thing!"
The joke applies now to Donald Trump. He is unique. That’s good, indeed.
But is he unique? As a worldwide phenomenon, or at least in the Western world, is he without parallel?
As a character, Trump is indeed unique. It is extremely difficult to imagine any other Western country electing somebody like that as its supreme leader. But beyond his particular personality, is Trump unique? -

The lies that are told to justify Canadian foreign policy

Here’s What The Rise of Fidget Spinners Says About The State of America
(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — America is a nation on edge. One need only look at the shooting in Virginia this week as evidence — not only because a crazed political partisan attempted a large-scale assassination, but also because Americans’ responses have been woefully reactive, hateful, and hubristic.
The mounting physical clashes between extreme factions of left and right wing ideology, Antifa and the alt-right are also proof of the escalating unease. -

Tyranny without a tyrant
The greater the bureaucratization of public life, the greater will be the attraction of violence. In a fully developed bureaucracy there is nobody left with whom one could argue, to whom one could present grievances, on whom the pressures of power could be exerted. Bureaucracy is the form of government in which everybody is deprived of political freedom, of the power to act; for the rule by Nobody is not no-rule, and where all are equally powerless we have a tyranny without a tyrant.

Iran Preparing to Combat Renewed Offensives by Both the CIA and ISIS
Last week’s terrorist attacks in Tehran dramatically highlighted the IS threat to Iran. But more worrying for Iran is a renewed offensive by the CIA.
(MEE) — Last Wednesday’s twin terrorist attacks in Tehran shattered a more than three-decades-long sense of security in the Iranian capital.
The last time there were major terrorist incidents in Tehran was way back in the early 1980s during the turbulent immediate post-revolutionary period. -
(VIDEO) Grenfell Tower Protesters Storm Kensington Town Hall in London
The death toll from the Grenfell Tower fire in West London continues to rise, as authorities are now indicating the number of residents burned alive may be at least 60 now, as more bodies were found in the stairwells of the high rise. This is not including some of the top floor flats which have yet to be forensically investigated.
Apparently, Prime Minister Theresa May did try to meet with residents, victims and community leaders, but the visit came to an abrupt end as angry protests chased the prime minister’s car as May made a hasty escape from an irate mob. -
Theresa May’s Katrina moment following the Grenfell Tower fire
On the eve of the British election I wrote of how British Prime Minister Theresa May had failed to rise to the occasion of the two terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.
Two days ago I also wrote that the Conservatives were making a serious mistake by retaining her as their leader despite her failure to win a strong mandate in the election.
Events since the Grenfell Tower tragedy have underscored both points. -

We Are at the Crossroads between Violence and Tolerance
Today's political climate is verging dangerously toward using force as a means of silencing opponents. Civil discourse is at a crossroads. We can either accept that violence will rule how we interact with others behind the protection of our computer screens (or openly in the public square) or we can decide to reign in intolerance in the name of tolerance.
