Vienna could be the host for a Trump-Putin meeting

The prospect of a formal meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has been floating around for some time, but due to suspicions of Russian collusion in the 2016 US presidential election by Trump’s political opponents, that hasn’t been allowed to manifest, as of yet. However, Trump says he wants to meet with Putin, and Putin has said repeatedly that he’s open to such a meeting. Trump has stated that he thinks he could meet with the Russian President this summer, and the Austrian capital of Vienna could potentially be the host.

Putin-Trump summit finally on the way?

In the aftermath of the successful Kim-Trump summit in Singapore there is again speculation about the prospects of a possible summit meeting between the US and Russian Presidents, with Vienna the likely host city.
The clearest discussion of these rumours and of what such a summit might look like and what it might achieve has been provided by Dr. Gilbert Doctorow.

Trump jeopardizes global diplomacy

Much has been said about US President Donald Trump leaving the Iran deal: that this is in blatant disregard of basic rules of the international law on treaties and that this is the behavior of the bully, profoundly disrespectful towards the other partners in the treaty – France, Great-Britain, Russia, China and Germany.
And last, but not least, that this comes down to a declaration of war against Iran.
In many ways this is indeed a historical setback.
The consequences of Trump’s decision will be felt for decades to come.
