Six years ago, at the age of 95, the revolutionary, outspoken, anti-apartheid former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela passed away. During his lifetime Mandela was a fierce skeptic of American power, U.S. imperialism, policies and ideology.
There was a time when it was not unusual for the United Nations to accept several new members in a single decade. These days such accessions to membership are rare. The last nation to be admitted to the UN was South Sudan, the only new member in the international organization in this decade. The 1950s saw the UN gain new members in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The 1960s was the largely the decade of Africa in new members. During the 1970s and 80s, several island nations in the Caribbean became UN members.
And yes there is a pro war "left" out there.. they are the writers who gloss over the FACT that Syria's being chopped up and push the idea that north eastern Syria belongs to some group of alleged 'egalitarian' democratic persons... Who stand for nothing but peace, love and understanding making all this death and destruction 'a good thing'. They are the sites/authors that advance the cause of "greater Kurdistan" or write about Rojova as if it exists, while never asking if it actually does? Or should? Or, what was the cost for it's creation? Who really desired this creation?

The credibility of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is on the line after a series of devastating leaks from whistleblowers has shown that the UN body distorted an alleged CW incident in Syria in 2018. The distortion by the OPCW of the incident suggests that senior directors at the organization were pressured into doing so by Western governments.
When you survey the mainstream media coverage on the issue of global population, it is overwhelmingly dominated by heightened fears of over-population, but very little in terms of under-population. Certainly, the term eugenics comes to mind when analyzing the dominant mainstream institutionalized Malthusian thinking.
