On 11 December 2019, Ryan Lizza bannered at Politico, “Biden signals to aides that he would serve only a single term”, and reported that:
While the option of making a public pledge [to serve only one term] remains available, Biden has for now settled on an alternative strategy: quietly indicating that he will almost certainly not run for a second term while declining to make a promise that he and his advisers fear could turn him into a lame duck and sap him of his political capital.

Despite recent pledges by the Trump Administration to drawdown forces in the Middle East, specifically with cuts in Iraq and Afghanistan, officials in Washington do not appear to be extending such pre-election pledges for its running contingent still illegally occupying parts of northeastern Syria.

This mantra is still being used by the likes of Hillary Clinton, and by a great number of Democrats and Never-Trumpers who continue to refuse to accept reality. This and the resulting hysteria known as “Trump Derangment Syndrome” have led to some of the most outrageous, funny, tragic and even deadly behavior seen among American citizens in a very long time.

This week, the top U.S. general in the Middle East, Frank McKenzie, confirmed plans for partial troop drawdowns in both Iraq and Afghanistan scheduled to happen before the 2020 Presidential Election on Nov. 3. The plans seeks to cut the troop presence in Iraq from 5,200 to 3,000 by the end of September. Is this an earnest rethink of western hegemony in the region, or is President Donald Trump merely seeking political capital by fulfilling his 2016 campaign pledge to end “America’s endless wars.”
