Some people are born to govern, others born to fail and others like Theresa May are born to bully their way into confusing people enough to think that they have some divine right to rule in spite of having, no expertise, no experience in world affairs, no charisma, no originality and no real policies. Such people usually ended up failing in the long term. This is what happened to Theresa May.
Beyond having no real policies of her own, Theresa May held tightly to the status quo as if it was an inner-tube floating next to the Titanic.

There are 650 seats in the Lower House of Parliament, meaning a party needs to win 326 to form a majority government. When Theresa May-- believing her own and the Establishment's anti-Corbyn hype-- called a snap election on April 18, her party controlled 330 seats to just 232 for Labour. The SNP held 56 seats (out of a total of 59 seats in Scotland) and the Liberal Dems held 9.

With around 60% of the results declared in the British election it is becoming clear that the exit poll is roughly correct, and it is becoming increasingly unlikely that the Conservative Party will be able to form a majority government in the British Parliament.
By contrast it is now also clear that the opposition Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn has increased significantly both its share of the vote and its representation in the British Parliament.

Counting in the British election is underway and it will be some time before the result becomes clear.
The exit poll conducted for the BBC and various other news organisations points either to a narrow Conservative win or to a parliament in which the Conservatives are the biggest party but have no overall majority.
