It is true that no establishment Democrat apparently has the will to step up and challenge the deep pockets and shrill right-wing constituency of the current governor.

Blue America's Newest Endorsed Candidate-- Derrick Crowe (TX-21)

Blue America has been busily vetting new congressional candidates since spring. Sometimes it takes a while since we don't base our endorsements on questionnaires but, rather, on "getting to know" the candidates and what they stand for and what their capabilities are. We've certainly gotten to know Derrick Crowe, our newest endorsee-- a progressive Texas Democrat who is running a campaign based on what he wants to do to represent the interests of TX-21 working families in Congress.

Texans March To Protect Historic Church Slated To Be Cut-Off By Border Wall

MISSION — It’s supposed to be God, not government, that decides when a Catholic church that’s been welcoming parishioners since 1899 should burn its last candle.
But as the sun’s light slowly burnt away the lingering fog surrounding La Lomita chapel at 7 a.m. Saturday, a team of activists was launching the start of a massive effort to convince lawmakers that walling off part of the Rio Grande Valley — and trapping the church between a wall and a river — is a sin against a community.

Report: Texas Could Lose Billions Over New Sanctuary City Law

Representatives from Texas’ business, local government and higher education sectors argued Tuesday that the state’s new immigration-enforcement law, which is slated to take effect Sept. 1, could do billions of dollars in damage to the Texas economy.

A Houston, Texas 19-year-old was simply cutting grass and passing out business cards in a high-end neighborhood when police showed up demanding his identification and pulling out the handcuffs, all of which can be seen in the video below.
Later that day cops showed up to the same teenager’s home and reportedly released the  K-9 dog on him, which caused lacerations to the teen’s arm.
The teenager had not committed a crime and had every right to utilize his Fourth Amendment right to protection against unlawful search and seizure.

What Happened To Trump's Promises About Massive Infrastructure Spending?

We'll look at the mess the Trump Regime has made of infrastructure in a moment. First though, I want to highlight one crucial part of that in my part of the country. The Republican-led Congress and the Trump Regime are screwing with California, Oregon and Washington over the earthquake early warning system-- enough time for people to take cover or pull their cars over-- the federal government was committed to, something NPR highlighted this week.
