I'm sure you remember all the excitement around the elections for the Virginia House of Delegates last year. The Republicans lost a whopping 15 seats and barely held onto the leadership-- and only because of a coin toss that went in their favor! The GOP entered those elections with 66 seats (out of 100) and had no idea what was headed their way. By the time the coin toss was over, they had 51 seats.
Tomorrow there are primaries in 5 states, Nevada, Maine, Virginia, North Dakota and South Carolina. We're watching Maine more closely than any of the other states. Blue America has only endorsed one federal candidate in any of the 5 states-- Jared Golden, who's running for Wall Street oriented Bruce Poliquin's seat in the sprawling non-Portland bulk of the state.
Last night, when everyone was wondering if Democrats would be shut out of the Orange County races in California-- they weren't-- and while political junkies were watching congressional races in California, New Jersey, Iowa, New Mexico, South Dakota, Alabama, Mississippi and Montana, a more definitive race than a primary was happening in Missouri's 17th state senate district in the Kansas City Metro.

In fact let's start by listening to the 23 second clip from Felder's May 2 presentation at the the Bay Democrats club. It's sort of a confession. "For those of you who are loyal Democrats," he told the roomful of loyal Democrats, "that believe that the only person that can represent you is somebody that's a loyal Democrat-- I'm not that guy ." He sure isn't. Blake Morris is... which is part of the reason he has been endorsed by Blue America.

Blue America didn't endorse Rachel Crooks because of her Trump saga. We endorsed her because she's running on a Bernie-like platform and seemed to us in a position where she could flip an Ohio state legislative seat from red to blue. The Trump saga will help her do that by bringing her some attention from the media.
Perhaps you remember that last year Kathie Allen was one of the first Democrats after Trump was installed who took on the difficult task of running in a special election in a red, red district, in her case Utah's 3rd Congressional District, the seat that Jason Chaffetz was abandoning. The district is 90.5% white, 10.2% Latino and just 0.6% Black.
