The nature of reality in times of universal confusion

US Representative, Nydia Velazquez, a Democrat, wrote "AOC and I -- and millions like us -- are the future of this country. And you're right to be afraid of us." The Congresswoman now is facing backlash on Twitter for telling a kid that Americans should be afraid of Congress.

There’s a scene in George Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia where he describes how the communists propagandized the fascists during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s. Orwell was with a scruffy, makeshift band of fighters high in the Spanish Alps. Both the communists and fascists were dug into their trenches and a general stalemate had ensued.

by NoahOver the years, I've encountered a ton of Republicans who wail and whine about their taxes and socialism. A lot of them come from red states that take more federal money than any blue state ever did. I've had these lost souls tell me that they voted for Trump because "Socialism doesn't work." I've seen their eyes glaze over and felt their palpable anxiety at the mere mention of President Obama's name.

The preachers and lecturers deal with men of straw, as they are men of straw themselves. Why, a free-spoken man, of sound lungs, cannot draw a long breath without causing your rotten institutions to come toppling down by the vacuum he makes. Your church is a baby-house made of blocks, and so of the state.

A recent poll found that 59% of registered voters in America agree with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez' plan to increase taxes as income rises to as much as 70%. Many voters apparently believe that wealth inequality is inherently evil and should be prevented by taxes.

Many people are cynical about government, with good reason. They see leaders who don’t care about getting a job done, who just maneuver and finger-point and yell to puff themselves up and put someone else down. They read about tunnels and transportation terminals that cost three times what they were supposed to, are opened for business years behind schedule, and need endless fixes.
