I would be very happy seeing a President Elizabeth Warren or a President Jeff Merkley. I've spoken with both from early in their national political careers and I have no doubt whatsoever either would be an extraordinary president. Blue America has raised money for both of their Senate campaigns and if either is the Democratic nominee for president, the campaign would be Blue America's top priority for 2020.
Didn't we learn anything from the Hillary debacle? Voters are looking for someone authentic-- not a concoction of consultant and pollster memos-- who stands for something that helps ordinary working families. I doubtHouse Democrats will even try to live up to that once they take over in January, but that's what turned out their voters three weeks ago.

As a leading indicator in presidential elections my entire lifetime, Ohio trending Trump meant the entire Midwest was trending Trump, too.

Ohio is one of those super-gerrymandered states whose state legislative districts and congressional districts were drawn by the Republicans to make it impossible for Democrats to win seats. Keep in mind that Obama won statewide in 2008 and 2012— 2,940,044 (51.38%) to 2,677,820 (46.80%) in 2008 and 2,827,709 (50.67%) to 2,661,437 (47.69%) in 2012.
