School Shootings that the U.S. Government Finances

by Russell “Texas” Bentley, republished from the Greanville Post, and introduced here by Eric Zuesse Introduction Mass-murders routinely occur in many places around the United States, and dominate the headlines each time. The killers aren’t funded by the U.S. Government. But when mass-murders happen in the U.S. vassal-nation of Ukraine ever since 2014, and especially […]

Why There’s so Much Inconsistency in School Shooting Data

(CONVERSATION Op-ed) — How many school shootings happen in the U.S. in a single school year? The answer is surprisingly hard to figure out. In April, the U.S. Department of Education released a report on the 2015-2016 school year, stating that “nearly 240 schools (0.2 percent of all schools) reported at least 1 incident involving a school-related shooting.” However, the nonprofit […]

The US Department of Education Reported 235 School Shootings in 2015-2016, But the Real Number Was 29

NPR attempted to make contact with every school to confirm the statistics and discovered that more than two-thirds of the incidents never happened. The DOE shrugged off the disclosure by saying that it merely relied on data provided to it by the schools, but the schools did not provide such data. [...]

Facebook Flags, Censors NPR Report on Inflated Gov’t School Shooting Statistics

Facebook has the right to censor whoever they want, but this kind of clumsy, partisan censorship practice is just begging for government intervention. (FEE) — Earlier this week, NPR reported on the high number of school shootings alleged by the U.S. Department of Education. The 240 school shootings detailed in the department’s report on the 2015-2016 school year […]

The Connection Between Gun Violence, Suicide Rates and Aggressive US Foreign Policy

In recent months a string of school shootings in the United States has rekindled the debate over gun violence, its causes and what can be done to stop it. But amid endless talk of school shootings and AR-15s, a large piece of the puzzle has been left conspicuously absent from the debate.
Contrary to the notion that mass murderers are at the heart of America’s gun violence problem, data from recent years reveals that the majority of gun deaths are self-inflicted.

The Statistics Are Clear: It’s Not Schools That Are Dangerous

Every day, 42 Americans die in gun homicides, the grim backdrop against which to talk about school shootings. In the three months between the 10 shot dead in Santa Fe, Texas, on Friday, and the 17 in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14, around 4,000 Americans lost their lives in firearms homicides.
In the initial horror following a school shooting, we witness the “thoughts and prayers,” finger-wagging from politicians not wanting to “politicize” the shooting, and promises to “do something.” Then, just as predictably, nothing happens.

Broward County: Video of School Police Officer Waiting Outside During Shooting

School police officer, Scott Peterson, drove toward the shooting, but did not enter the building during the shooting. Peterson retired rather than face dismissal but is being investigated by internal affairs. Before we jump to the conclusion that the school police officer failed to do his duty, we must realize that government enterprises like schools and police do not have a duty to protect citizens against the actions of a private third party. School-Safety Administrator Discusses Disturbing Evidence in Parkland School Shooting

Wolfgang Halbig, a retired Florida State school safety expert who researched the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012 and concluded it was a "contrived event", now turns his investigative skills to the shooting at Parkland high school. Halbig wrote the school safety plan for the Douglas high school in 2006, and says that the Parkland shooting follows the same script as the Sandy Hook event: There were no trauma helicopters called, paramedics were not allowed into the school, and it is unknown who declared the victims dead.
