Security, Safety, Security! Dictatorship by Democracy

The other day, checking in at a European airport for an international flight, within about an hour it took to deposit my luggage, going through airport security, the metal detectors, body screening machines, the automatic passport reading procedure, waiting at the gate and finally boarding, I have heard or read the words security and safety, honestly speaking, more than a hundred times. There are now countless primitive videos – in fact, insultingly primitive videos – that show you the precise procedures to follow to keep you safe and secure.

Nicaragua’s President Says Planned US Sanctions Will Bring Poverty

Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega criticized Saturday the draft sanctions that the United States Congress is discussing against his government saying such actions would bring poverty and economic troubles to his country.
“I say to the U.S. congresspeople and senators who are voting in favor of this interventionist law that what they are coming to is simply to harm the country’s economy,” the president said in a massive rally he led along with Vice President Rosario Murillo.

Bolton: US Will Be “Aggressive and Unwavering” on Iran Sanctions

White House national security adviser John Bolton on Tuesday dismissed an EU plan for a special payments plan to circumvent US sanctions against Iranian oil sales and pressed the SWIFT global payments messaging system to rethink dealing with Tehran, Reuters reports.

He said the United States would not allow the European Union or anyone else to undermine them.

US Sanctions China for Buying Russian War Planes and Missiles

The Trump administration imposed sanctions on the Chinese military on Thursday for buying fighter jets and missile systems from Russia, in breach of a sweeping US sanctions law punishing Moscow for meddling in the 2016 US election Reuters reports.
The US State Department said it would immediately impose sanctions on China’s Equipment Development Department (EDD), the branch of the Chinese military responsible for weapons and equipment, and its director, Li Shangfu, for engaging in “significant transactions” with Rosoboronexport, Russia’s main arms exporter.

Iran Hawks in Washington

No doubt, anti-Iran propaganda out of Washington abounds. There are numerous Zionist-run think-tanks (sic) that make US Foreign Policy and are ratcheting up anti-Iran anger in the US, but targeting especially the Iranian population at home, in Iran. The notorious chief-villain of these agencies, by the way, highly subsidized by the US State Department, and perhaps even more important, by the powerful US military-security complex, is the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy (FDD).
