Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday that Trump’s “dreams have nothing to do with the existing realities” after the US president said Iran wanted to hold talks with the United States.
“They (Iran) are not doing well. They want to talk [with US],” Trump told reporters at the White House on Sunday, claiming that the Iranian economy was badly hit due to his sanctions.
“He knows that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been facing and is familiar with American pressures and sanction policies for decades,” Qassemi said.

The Trump administration has been increasingly hostile towards the Caribbean nation, escalating sanctions and even threatening a military “option.”

In another blow to US control over Iraq, the country’s foreign minister warned that Baghdad would ignore US sanctions on Iran. Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim laid out the latest step on the path to independence for Baghdad from the US concerning sanctions on Iran by Washington.

Following Wednesday’s unexpected and dramatic full and “immediate” withdrawal of all US forces from Syria, Turkey has announced it will not play ball on Iran sanctions. According to a translation of the Turkish president’s words on Thursday during a previously planned summit with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Ankara, journalist Abdullah Bozkurt reports,
