Russia’s new lethal howitzer to be a MASSIVE game changer for its ground forces

Making its first appearance during Russia’s 2015 military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the country’s victory in the Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany and its European allies, the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV represents a formidable new mobile artillery piece which is set to revolutionise fire support for the Russian ground forces.

Russia’s HEAVY caliber artillery is back in service

Last year, Lieutenant-General Mikhail Matveyevsky,  Commander of Russia’s Army Missile Troops and Artillery, stated that  Russia’s ground forces will  have 50-100% more firepower by 2021. The upgrade of these “old warriors” that have been taken out of storage is underway, along with the addition of new systems. Brand-new equipment is being installed.  Barrels, recoil mechanisms, and other components are being replaced or refitted.

The Russian Su-35 is the plane the US Air Force should fear

The maneuverability of the Su-35 makes it an unsurpassed dogfighter. However, future aerial clashes using the latest missiles (R-77s, Meteors, AIM-120s) could potentially take place over enormous ranges, while even short-range combat may involve all-aspect missiles like the AIM-9X and R-74 that don’t require pointing the aircraft at the target. Nonetheless, the Su-35’s speed (which contributes to a missile’s velocity) and large load-carrying abilities mean it can hold its own in beyond-visual-range combat.
