Eleven have been killed and dozens more injured in what is an apparent terrorist attack on St. Petersburg’s metro system. Western analysts are assigning possible blame for the attack on either terrorists operating from Russia’s Chechnya region, or possibly terrorist groups affiliated with fronts fighting in Syria.

The recent visit by Iran’s Hassan Rouhani to Russia has once again underscored how essential both countries remain for each other in the Syria war that is still far from a decisive end. To that extent, both countries are strategically co-operating.

Cooperation in building modern railway links, deep water ports and mining infrastructure in Russia’s Arctic and Murmansk Peninsula in the far north is becoming a strategic new element binding China and Russia. Its implications are worth a closer look.

The EU, NATO, and the western alliance have utterly failed the people of eastern Europe. The unrequited love of former Soviet bloc nations is slowly turning to scorn. The Euromaidan and ensuing civil war have laid bare an ideological and cultural divide ages old. With Brussels and NATO reeling from recent events, the fear mongering used to leverage aligned nations is losing its effectiveness.

Rumors Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Ljubljana, Slovenia make sense if binding a new order of things is the goal. Not only is the this country the birthplace of first lady Melania Trump, Slovenia once thrived as part of greater Yugoslavia. It is in the geo-strategic loyal where great détente potential and catastrophe reside.

The world continues to turn upside down. Think the Western democracies are still the authorities on the one thing they are supposed to know about? Think again.

I stated some months ago, while assembling a criminal dossier against the NATO powers for the ultimate war crime of aggression, that the build-up of NATO forces in Eastern Europe, particularly American, concentrated on the Baltic states and Ukraine, presaged hybrid war operations against Russia leading to a general war.

The world is in new territory now, not so much that criminal elites are manipulating governments and raping the planet, that’s centuries old. We have reached a point where up and down are considered opinions and there is no right or wrong, no values, no natural laws, no human condition, only tweets and smears and insanity.

If anything the Obama administration is—if it really is an administration at all—its most apt description as well as appreciation should be based upon what it has achieved and lost in the 8 years it was in the White House’s Oval office.

The year 2016 was marked by a number of important events on the Asian continent, in the Middle East and a number of other regions. Regime changes, armed conflicts, the rapid growth in the number of terrorist attacks — that’s the outcome of the short-sighted policies employed by certain countries and Wahhabi states.
