I’ve expressed the similar sentiments to these below in the past, but the subject came up again today on social media and, as it is of utmost importance, I’m posting the commentaries here.
Navid Nasr began the needed exchange with these words:

There are a number of journalists, podcasters, bloggers, political analysts, and those sharing on social media that I’ve only belatedly–in the last couple of years–come across.
I value all of their contributions, many of them pushing the “accepted discourse” on international and local events and issues, all of them countering the lies of corporate media.
