GOP candidates win several primaries, while Democrats fragment

Republicans and Democrats held primary elections in seven states on June 26: New York, Colorado, Maryland, Oklahoma, Utah, South Carolina and Mississippi, the last two states being runoff primaries. Predictions for the November 2018 midterm elections have projected a wave of Democrat victories, perhaps enough to reclaim both the Senate (which only needs two GOP losses) and the House (which needs 30 Democrat victories).
The polling still indicates a likely swing in at least the Senate to Democrat control, but the results of the primaries seem to show something different.

Rand Paul Calls War Hawk Lindsey Graham ‘A Danger to the Country’

While U.S. senators often go out of their way not to excessively disparage their colleagues in personal terms, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) took the rare step Monday of declaring fellow Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC) a “danger to the country.”
Paul made the comments on CNN while discussing the North Korea summit with Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room.” Blitzer noted that Graham has called for a vote on an authorization of the use of military force against North Korea should President Donald Trump’s negotiations fail.

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens Resigns over Sex Scandal

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, a former Navy SEAL officer and Rhodes Scholar, was seen as a rising Republican star until he was forced to admit to an extra-martial affair dating back to 2015. He was accused of taking a compromising photo of the woman and blackmailing her with it (the photo was never discovered). A second criminal investigation resulted in charges that he improperly used a charity mailing list for fundraising during his political campaign. Greitens says his prosecution is a politically motivated witch hunt.

Waffle House Has a History of Supporting Reactionary Far-Right Politics

Anyone who has spent a lot of time listening to southern hip-hop has no doubt heard of Waffle House. The restaurant chain has been mentioned in countless hip-hop and modern R&B recordings and has had plenty of black customers over the years. But following some racially troubling incidents in 2018, Dr. Bernice A. King—daughter of the late civil rights leader Dr.

With Golden Opportunity in Coming Elections, Will Democrats Rediscover a Soul?

WASHINGTON (Analysis) — At first glance, Jason Kander would seem to be a political consultant’s dream — or perhaps nightmare, if you’re a Republican. Approaching his 37th birthday, the former Missouri secretary of state is boyishly handsome, whip smart, a social-media savant, and appeals to both millenials and seniors.

America’s Far Right is Stumbling, But has Already Infiltrated the Mainstream

On March 5, the prominent white nationalist Richard Spencer was scheduled to speak at Michigan State University.
The event quickly turned into a bust when only about three dozen people made it inside the building — while hundreds of Spencer supporters and anti-fascist protestors confronted each other outside, throwing rocks and punches. Local police arrested 25 people.

Bernie Sanders Rouses Progressive Candidates With Call to Fight Democratic and Republican Establishment

WASHINGTON — Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ind-Vt., roused a crowd of hundreds of progressives running for political office—from county board to Congress—with a call to fight back against the political establishments of both parties.
“When we have the least-qualified president in our history and right-wing extremists in governors chairs, our job is to stand up, to fight back, to bring our brothers and sisters and friends and neighbors into the political process by providing hope,” he declared. “It is to transform America.”

Anatomy of a mob: The CNN Townhall meeting about the Parkland shooting [VIDEO]

CNN gave a “town hall” event on February 21st in response to the outrage of a great many students and parents over the February 14th massacre that ended the lives of 17 innocent students in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. But this town hall was tailored a bit.
CNN is a notably hard-left leaning cable television network. As such an ideological bent prevails there, it becomes rather difficult for the network to embrace truth when that truth does not agree with the ideology the network lives by and wishes to promote.
