Yesterday, the Washington Post ran a long and fascinating excerpt from A Very Stable Genius, the about-to-be-released (Tuesday) new book by Post reporters Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig. The excerpt is really good and you'll enjoy reading it, especially in light of Trump's own relationship with the military.
Don't pass out, but Trump was lying in the 30 second clip above. He didn't get 46% of Hispanic voters; he got 28%. And he didn't win among the highly educated. Only 36% of college graduates voted for him. However, he was telling the truth about the poorly educated. A full third of his vote came from people whose education went no further than high school-- or less. And non-college whites made up the bulk of his supporters-- 63%.
Unless he does something worse than he's already been doing, history won't have much to say about Trump other than he was the worst American president ever, that he gained the office illegitimately and that he presided over a corrupt and failed administration. But there are many with a vested interest-- including the media that recognizes what he is and hates him-- in normalizing him as though he were just another president.
