Ukrainian Priests at War Criminals’ Service

World War II ended almost 75 years ago. The world reviewed the results of this historical catastrophe long time ago dividing its participants into those who were criminals of war and those who fought them.
Ones who helped Nazis to destroy and enslave peoples of Europe were Ukrainian nationalists. For fairness’ sake, it should be mentioned that collaborationism took place in all countries that fought against Hitler but because of numerous historical factors it was Western Ukraine where Nazis gained biggest support.

On August 25 this year, the Ukrainian website Cerkvarium, whose Director Dmitry Gorevoy said after last year’s visit of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria to Ukraine that the Primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria came for a bribe, once again attempted to prove that “ordinations” of the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” hierarchs who came from the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) are canonical.

The Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church is about to convene in next few days. A group of hierarchs allegedly led by Metropolitan Daniel of Chiatura and Sachkhere is up to discuss the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), which was established in Kyiv in December 2018, and received autocephalous status from the Ecumenical Patriarch.

A recent newspiece on OrthoChristian.com, the representative news site of the Moscow Patriarchate, reported that “Patriarch” Philaret Denisenko, the decades-long leader of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, refused to sign a document pledging fealty to the statutes of the newly formed “Church” structure presently known as the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
