The highly controversial US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley has stated that prior to Donald Trump taking office, he offered her the position of Secretary of State, the American equivalent of Foreign Minister, but she declined.
According to Haley,

“I’m very aware of when things are right and when they are not. I just thought he could find someone better”.

On 30th July 2017, in the immediate aftermath of North Korea’s latest ballistic missile test, Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, published a portentous statement saying that the US would not seek an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the North Korean test or additional sanctions against North Korea.
Nikki Haley’s words in her statement bear some repeating

This week, Russia’s embassy in Damascus came under attack from motor fire by the al-Qaeda group known as al-Nusra Front.
At a plenary session of the United Nations Security Council, Russia asked the body to condemn the savage terrorist attack, but the United States and its allies blocked this from happening, as though tacitly endorsing the attack on a peaceful diplomatic compound.

North Korea’s second successful test launch of its Hwasong-14 missile has resulted in typically fiery rhetoric and sabre rattling from Washington.

Rex Tillerson is reportedly deeply unhappy with the operational style of the Trump administration and has allegedly expressed disappointment that his State Department has been neglected by the White House. Furthermore, Tillerson is rumoured to be looking to quit his job as Secretary of State and possibly he is looking to do so quite soon.
