Are Corruption And America's Politics Inexorably Intertwined? And Where Is It Worst?

It isn't easy to figure out who is the most corrupt politician in America. But it also isn't impossibleWe write about political corruption a lot here at DWT. Yesterday we saw the bipartisanship of corruption by looking at corrupt Cuomo Democrats in New York and corrupt oil-sell outs among Republican attorneys generals in red states like Oklahoma.

Will Christie Officially Change New Jersey's State Motto From The Garden State To The Pay-To-Play State?

Constipation is a horrible afflicationIt's hardly news a big priority for Republicans is to privatize whatever they can while they have a hold on power. Last year New Jersey's bribe-taking/Pay-to-play governor, Chris Christie, privatized sales and marketing functions of the state's lottery-- despite the fact that New Jersey had an award-winning lottery and sales had steadily increased when sales and marketing functions were being done by state workers.

Bruce Springsteen Isn't Going To Back Chris Christie's Presidential Run-- And Neither Will Wall Street

I was in the music business much of my life and I can tell you, everyone loves the fans-- the ones waiting on line to buy the records and tickets even before they're on sale, the ones who know more about the artists than the artists do, the ones who make the press realize that there's something going on out there they haven't tuned in to yet. But sometimes it gets a little too much and the difference between a fan and a stalker starts to blur... sometimes ominously. No one likes that. In the late 70s some friends and I had a small indie label in San Francisco, 415 Records.

Who Will Save Atlantic City? Certainly Not Carl Icahn And Chris Christie

New Jersey voters reelected Chris Christie with their eyes open; after a first term of breathtaking-- even for New Jersey-- corruption and non-stop, unabashed catering to Big Bucks special interests, they knew exactly what they were getting. And now the chickens are coming home to roost. New Jersey's economy is in turmoil as their governor spends his time jockeying for position inside his crazy right-wing ideological political party.

Sure, Chris Christie Is Unspeakably Corrupt, But That Doesn't Mean He's The Only Corrupt Politician In New Jersey-- Remember Cory Booker?

Blue America endorsed Rush Holt for the New Jersey Senate seat in last year's special election. But, as expected, Cory Booker won. Booker lead in every poll and he won big: 59.17% in a 4-way race. Holt came in third with 16.76%. In the general election Booker beat right-wing nut case Steve Lonegan 740,742 (54.92%) to 593,684 (44.02%).

How Bonnie Watson Coleman Overcame The Odds And Won Her Primary Using Microtargeting

Bonnie Watson Coleman and Alan GraysonBarbara Buono, the stalwart progressive who took on Chris Christie— and the corrupt New Jersey Democratic Machine— introduced me to Bonnie Watson-Coleman, a stalwart, principled and courageous legislator who stood strong for Barbara when other Democrats were hiding under their desks, afraid of Christie and afraid of the slimy Democratic bosses.

Washington Post Pays George Will To Write Fantasies: “Bell Might Be Hot On Booker’s Heels”

Jeff Bell and fan clubDisclosure: None of us at DWT are fans of Wall Street whore Cory Booker. That said, we’re probably more grounded in reality than delusional Villager George Will. The last time New Jersey elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate was 1972 when very liberal Republican Clifford Case, first elected in 1954, was reelected to his 4th term. A right-wing anti-tax nut, Jeffrey Bell, beat him in the 1978 Republican primary.
