Geopolitical Realism Utilized by Obama and Trump
Donald Trump’s stance towards the Turkish intervention in northern Syria has some (stress some) resemblance to his predecessor Barack Obama’s position on Ukraine. Obama like Trump, saw a reasoned basis for limiting US military involvement in Syria. In the background, is a degree of bipartisan (Republican and Democrat) opposition to this foreign policy approach.
Nuclear War: Just Another Day
Catastrophic events that send the world into turmoil happen on ‘just another day’. The atom bomb that exploded over Hiroshima took place while thousands of ordinary folk were just going about their everyday business on ‘just another day’. A missile attack on a neighbourhood in Gaza or a drone attack on unsuspecting civilians in Afghanistan: death and destruction come like a bolt from the blue as people shop at the local market or take their kids to school on ‘just another day’.
Decimation of the Rainforests and the Money Men
During August thousands of fires ravaged the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and Bolivia. Some are still burning. In the wet ecosystem of the rainforest fires are not a natural phenomenon, they are started by people, mostly well-organized criminal gangs that profit from illegal logging and land clearance.
Thinking the Unthinkable, Saying the Unsayable
We have resolved to pave the way for a grand peace for all the generations to come by enduring the unendurable and suffering what is insufferable.
– The Showa Emperor, August 1945
A couple of months ago Putin observed that the time of modern day liberalism had passed.
There is also the so-called liberal idea, which has outlived its purpose. Our Western partners have admitted that some elements of the liberal idea, such as multiculturalism, are no longer tenable.
In Defense of Cory Morningstar’s Manufacturing for Consent Series
Good investigative journalism doesn’t only reveal hidden mechanisms of our time; it also exposes those who refuse to confront the mechanisms. Remember when the late Bruce Dixon courageously and cogently called Bernie Sanders “a sheep dog candidate”? Remember when Eva Bertlett, Vanessa Beeley and others truly stood with Syrian people in opposing the western intervention? I do. Those who could not face the reality came up with all sorts of profanities and ill conceived theories to demonize the messengers.
“911!” The Book Amazon May Not Want Americans to Read
“911!” is the title of my new book.1 You immediately recognize the title as the nationwide telephone number to call for help or rescue. My choice of this title was deliberate.
FIGHT CLUB (1999) – Postmodern Revolution, Covert Cults & 9/11
Shawn Helton
21st Century Wire
The 1999 film Fight Club is an exploration into the underbelly of both radical and fascist social change in postmodern America. Beneath the film’s anti-establishment/anti-materialist veneer is a sardonic foray into cultural Marxism, archetypal motifs and dissociative identity disorder.
