The African continent, because of its tremendous reserves of mineral resources that are easily accessible and the “Dark Continent’s” strategic location, has been suffering from the impact from external forces for centuries. At first, this was expressed in the form of colonial exploitation by Western powers, and over the past few decades in the predatory policies of foreign transnational corporations, which overtly steal wealth from the local population.

Politicians are people who not only live in the public eye but also encounter disapproval because of their decisions and actions. Hence, from time to time, the world is shaken by front-page news about the death or tragic demise of yet another prominent politician. It is also worth noting that an overwhelming majority of already solved political assassinations is linked to the United States. And nowadays, such a state of affairs is hardly surprising.

Every few months, Asmolov’s digest examines how South Korea’s military relations are developing with its main ally and other partners in terms of military technology and politics. How these relations develop is more important for the author of these lines than Seoul’s lofty statements expressing the South’s desire for peace.
