Evan Jenkins was a very right-wing Democrat who followed his opportunistic instincts to switch parties recently and run against a right-wing Democrat who hasn't switched parties, Nick Rahall. Jenkins' TV spot above has a couple of lines I want to call special attention to:

Republicans know they will never win the CA-17 congressional seat. It's way too educated, way too blue for them, D+20. So wealthy GOP plutocrats are bankrolling a sleazy, conservative fake Democrat, Ro Khanna to run against beloved progressive icon Mike Honda. It won't work any more than Khanna's past ridiculous races against Democrats Tom Lantos and Pete Stark.

This morning, PPP released polling of CA-17, commissioned by DFA, and it was absolutely catastrophic for corporate shill Ro Khanna who has wasted well over a million dollars already, relentlessly trying to smear progressive champion Mike Honda.
Mike Honda is considered one of the most serious legislators in Washington. He isn't a show horse; he's a work horse. So it probably didn't surprise too many people in CA-17 when the local Democratic Party delegates in his district gave him a stunning 92% of the votes for endorsement this weekend, despite his conservaDem's enormous stash of cash, much of it from Republicans eager to take out Honda. The Party endorsed Honda-- as have President Obama, Senators Feinstein and Boxer and every Democrat in the California House delegation.
Today two more important progressive groups, MoveOn and the Philadelphia Chapter of DFA (Philly for Change), joined Blue America and the PCCC in backing state Senator Daylin Leach in his bid for the open congressional seat (PA-13). In the May 20th primary Daylin will face a crowded field of garden variety Democrats, endorsed by Big Money interests.
If you come to DWT on any kind of a regular basis, you probably know I'm not a big Obama fan. In fact, voted for Jill Stein in 2012. But one area where President Obama has managed to move the ball forward, in the face of unrelenting and concerted Republican opposition, has been in regard to LGBT equality. Who would have thought back in 2008 we would come so far!
