Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has appeared in public after five days of absence due to reportedly bad health.
In a statement to Philippine troops fighting the ISIS insurgency in the southern Philippine city of Marawi he said,

“The fighting is going on, but it’s winding up.
It’s difficult to fight those who are willing to die. They have corrupted the name of God in the form of religion to kill many innocent people, for nothing”.

The U.S. is beefing up its military presence in the Philippines, claiming that the Philippines government requested their aid. However, President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Sunday he made no such request, raising concern that the U.S. may have an ulterior motive.

As the Philippine army goes after ISIS targets in the southern city of Marawi, ISIS in Philippines have made a video showing the destruction, desecration and ultimately the burning down of a local church.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has vowed to offer terrorists nothing but death in a rallying call to his nation.
There is little lower and more vile than destroying a holy place. ISIS does not represent a religion, it is merely a death cult.

Rodrigo Duterte is in the midst of waging total war against ISIS fighters in southern Philippines. It is a war that must be won and Duterte intends to win it. Here are some things that can and should be done to help hasten the victory and keep the people of Philippines safe.
1. Naval Blockade 
The presence of ISIS in Philippines is generally confined to the southern island of Mindanao. It is there that ISIS have largely conquered the city of Marawi although the Philippine army continues to make important gains.

Latest reports from the embattled town of Marawi in the Philippines – stormed by ISIS fighters on Tuesday, and now the site of heavy fighting between ISIS and the Philippines army – suggest that the Philippines army is gaining the upper hand over ISIS and may be close to recapturing the town.
