Trump Accidentally Supercharges Europe’s Resistance to Authoritarian Populism

On the eve of his recent visit to the UK, Donald Trump described the country as being in “turmoil.” And at one end of the political spectrum there was turmoil aplenty, with a slew of high-profile ministerial resignations from the Conservative government following the publication of its long-awaited plan for leaving the European Union, referred to as Brexit.

London’s Metropolitan Police Failed to Record 100,000 Crimes, Including Rape

A police watchdog group reported that police officers in London often failed to record crimes, including domestic abuse and violence when they occurred alongside other crimes.  Almost one in ten sexual offense crimes, including rape, were not recorded.  They also neglected to record some low-level crimes.  More than half of people in the UK have lost confidence in the police.  Meanwhile, hate crimes are rigorously investigated, and a George Soros-linked NGO is working with police to fund enforcement for hate crime laws.

Donald Trump plays good cop and bad cop with a weak Theresa May (Video)

US President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK was momentous, not for its substance, but rather for its sheer entertainment value.
Trump started his trip to the United Kingdom blasting Theresa May for her inability to negotiate a proper Brexit deal with the EU.  Trump ended his visit holding hands with the UK Prime Minister during a press conference where the most ‘special relationship’ between the two allies was once again reaffirmed.

20-Foot-Tall Trump Baby Blimp Gets OK to Fly Over London During President’s Visit

(CD) — Citizens of the world have shown throughout the past year and five months that there is no shortage of unique ways to peacefully register outrage against deeply unpopular U.S. President Donald Trump, and on Thursday London Mayor Sadiq Khan decided that flying a 20-foot-tall Trump baby blimp is just one of the “many different forms” dissent can take. As Sky News reports, Khan’s […]

Britain in panic as Trump-Putin summit looms

Days after I discussed rumours of an imminent Trump-Putin summit, seeming confirmation that such a summit is indeed in the works has been provided with the Kremlin’s confirmation that President Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton is travelling to Moscow next week apparently to discuss preparations for the summit.
The Kremlin’s confirmation of John Bolton’s visit was given today by President Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov

6 years ago today, Assange was sent into exile at Ecuador Embassy (Video)

On Tuesday June 19th, 2012, Julian Assange walked into the Ecuador’s embassy in London to claim asylum.
The WikiLeaks founder walked into the Ecuadorian embassy and claimed asylum under the UN’s human rights declaration. This followed an unsuccessful attempt to appeal against his deportation to Sweden to face allegations of rape.
The following morning on June 20th the Metropolitan police declared that Assange, who is still under bail conditions following his unsuccessful appeal to extradition, had breached those conditions.

UK government decides to make Tommy Robinson vanish (Video)

Conservative, anti-migrant activist Tommy Robinson was jailed last month for a “breach of the peace” while live-streaming a trial involving a Muslim rape gang outside Leeds Crown Court.
He was sentenced to 13 months in prison for interfering with court proceedings.
Articles about the arrest and subsequent imprisonment of Tommy Robinson were rapidly scrubbed from the internet after the British government put restrictions in place banning any reporting on the matter.
At first he was transferred to a prison that was considered relatively safe.
