Congress Voted Overwhelmingly To Remove Confederate Statues From The Capitol

Yesterday the House passed H.R.7573 which directs "the Architect of the U.S. Capitol to replace the bust of Roger Brooke Taney with a bust of Thurgood Marshall, to remove certain statues from areas of the Capitol which are accessible to the public, to remove all statues of individuals who voluntarily served Confederate States of America displayed in Capitol.

Trump's Worst Scandal Yet-- And This Time Republicans DO Care, At Least Many Do

Bullets by Chip ProserIf, as is often said, Texas is the GOP's California, then TX-13 (Amarillo) is the Democrats' CA-12 (San Francisco). One has a PVI of R+33 and the other's is D+37. In 2016, Trump scored a nice solid 79.9% in TX-13-- but just 8.7% in CA-12. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi represents one and Mac Thornberry, the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, represents the other.

How Big Will The Anti-Trump Wave Be In November? Very Big

Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal's Andrew Restuccia reported that the Trump regime was taking whatever focus they once had on the pandemic, in other directions. "The White House coronavirus task force," he wrote, "is meeting less frequently, the government’s top infectious disease expert is getting little face time with President Trump, and the administration’s virus-testing coordinator is returning to his previous job. U.S.

November's Outlook For Democrats Running For Congress Is Excellent

Last year, it was reasonable to look at the Senate election table for 2020 and predict that the Democrats would have a hard time flipping that chamber. It looked like they were most likely to lose one-- Jones in Alabama-- and possibly gain three-- Colorado (Gardner), Arizona (McSally) and Maine (Collins). That would leave them with the Turtle running the Senate again-- with a fragile 51-49 majority.

#DirectCashRelief

As the COVID-death toll surged past 100,000 this Memorial Day, Marianne Williamson recorded a new video in the home where's she's sheltering, a video based on the hashtag she's been promulgating for months. Just before recording, she told me that "Anyone with a heart can see that $2,000 a month direct cash relief is necessary in order for tens of millions of people to make it through this crisis. Instead, our government is actually cutting back on its commitments to help our citizens cope with a calamitous economic crisis.

Trump, McConnell And Pelosi Are Not Leading America Through This Well At All-- They Should All Retire

Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) stood up for ordinary working families, most of Congress didn'tTalking to me about the impending vote on the bailout Thursday, a former Member of Congress noted that "This is one of those rare occasions when I would say that any progressive in a safe district-- and there are plenty of them-- should have no trouble voting against this bill. It’s just doesn’t do enough, period. A proper bill would:

Dems Have A Plan-- Republicans Refuse To Read It And Reject It Out Of Hand

L.A. County announced that stay at home orders would remain in place 'til at least August 1. I don't see much enforcement in L.A. and everything I read indicates that outside the Bay Area there's no real enforcement anywhere. For example, Elon Musk, the selfish white South African billionaire-- and asshole-- still hasn't been arrested for reopening his factory. And California wonders why the numbers just keep climbing and climbing. A few weeks ago, California only had 880 or so cases per million. Those days are gone.

New Congressional Endorsement Alert In Georgia: Lisa Ring

Georgia's whole coastline, from Savannah on the South Carolina border down to St. Mary's on St. Mary's River that separates Georgia and Florida, is part of the 1st congressional district, basically bright blue Chatham (Savannah) and 17 smaller mostly, rural counties-- all red except for Liberty County near Savannah. Last cycle progressive Democrat Lisa Ring challenged conservative Trumpist Earl "Buddy" Carter.
