Is this going to be an accurate portrayal of the 2018 midterms?I had a good talk today with a progressive attorney, Dan Canon, running for Congress in a pretty red Indiana district. Dan's district, IN-09, has been a GOP bastion since 2010 when Republican Todd Young beat Blue Dog Baron Hill. Last year Trump beat Hillary there 61-34%. I asked Dan how he proposes to win in a district like that.
This morning we looked at a new bill introduced this week by Ro Khanna and Beto O'Rourke that would end the pervasive influence of PACs on Congress. It's another example of how Democrats are getting behind Bernie Sanders' most salient ideas. Ro Khanna endorsed Bernie during the 2016 cycle and Beto O'Rourke had endorsed Hillary.
The new poll out this morning from Vox Populi of New Hampshire registered voters confirmed what pollsters are seeing nationally-- a Trumpanzee meltdown. In a 4-way race, Hillary leads Mr. Trumpanzee 41-31% with Gary Johnson at 11% and Jill Stein at 3%. What worries New Hampshire Republicans far more than the collapse of Mr. T, is that he's dragging down incumbent Senator Kelly Ayotte, who can't give a clear answer about where she stands on supporting Trump.
As one DC wag tweeted early yesterday morning, "Donald Trump continues to refuse to peak." Perhaps he was referring to the new Morning Consult poll which now has the Trumpster at a whopping 40% among Republican primary voters (with Carson, #2, at just 14%, the only other candidate in double digits, Jeb at 6%,
As "journalists" go, Josh Kraushaar is certainly well-known as a major Beltway asshole, but his headline writer at National Journal did a piss-poor job on a relatively (for him) decent article, despite a few ridiculous assertions on his part that his readers have come to expect.
