Iran launches Gorgan-Incheh Borun railroad

Iran has officially inaugurated a railroad which connects the northern Iranian city of Gorgan to Incheh Borun town along the border with Turkmenistan.
The Gorgan-Incheh Borun railroad came on stream in a ceremony attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Roads and Urban Development Minister Ali Nikzad in Golestan Province on Monday.

Group calls for U.S. troop withdrawal from Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK – A group of Kyrgyzstan youth called for the withdrawal of American troops from the Manas airport on Tuesday to protest against the U.S. transit center in their country.
The “Jon element” (Just like) group wanted to attract public attention to the work of a U.S. military base that “carries a direct threat to the security of Kyrgyzstan,” said group leader Atay Beishenbek.

The recent proposal by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to lease the Aktau port on the Caspian coast to the United States for NATO transit shipments to and from Afghanistan has received wide media coverage. Analysts have reason to suspect that the future “transit point” may in fact become a naval base catering for U.S. and NATO needs.
