Israeli Occupation

An Australian block to BDS

The Australian government, Israel and its collaborator, the Palestinian Authority (PA) scored a victory over the Palestinian Boycott Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) Movement on November 29, 2014.

This was the shameful day that the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) , at its AGM, voted for No.1 from the following options,

Wait, says Ross. No need for a UN resolution

Ross’s accusation reminds me of the The Israel Project’s training manual designed to help the worldwide Zionist movement win the propaganda war. UN rejection sends harsh wake-up call to Abbas

For years, the Palestinian president Abbas has deluded himself that the United States would act to end the Israeli occupation during his lifetime. On Wednesday, he was forced to abandon his illusions.

Dilly-dallying must stop…

But if the Americans are genuinely interested in a moderate coalition, then they should not reward the current right-wing government by blocking the UN vote to end the Israeli occupation. If not, the PA should stop dilly-dallying and sidestep the US’ throttled UN Security Council by signing the Rome Statute to become a fully-fledged ICC member. Otherwise by its inaction, the Palestinian leadership risks history’s final verdict of being an accessory for surrendering all of Palestine.

Moments before he was murdered and standing in the middle of a group of Israeli soldiers, the minister spoke live to TV reporters,

‘This is an occupying terrorising army… we came here to plant trees. We are peaceful. No one was violent, yet we were attacked brutally by this terrorist army.’

This growth of the BDS movement is starting to turn the tide against Israel’s regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid, even among decision makers. Israel may soon be facing its South Africa moment.

The international surge in condemnation of Israel’s treatment of Palestine, and Gaza in particular, underlines the growing impact of BDS
