An Illegitimate Presidency-- And Why Congress Must Start Impeachment Now
On Friday evening, we looked at the OpEd former Republican Congressman Tom Coleman penned for the Kansas City Star.

Trump ally Marc Penn owns and operates the ridiculous Problem Solvers Caucus, ostensibly run by Congress' most far right Democrat, Josh Gottheimer (Blue Dog-NJ) and Trump rubber-stamp Tom Reed (R-NY).
Remember when fact-checking Trump and reporting how many lies he had told was a national sport? [Update, according to PolitiFact, 84% of the Trump statements they've checked have been false or partially false.
Wednesday morning Pelosi and Schumer headed over to the White House to discuss an already doomed infrastructure plan (and to be booted out by the always gracious Señor Trumpanzee). A reporter asked her about the closed door Democratic Party caucus she had just left (not even chiefs of staff were allowed in-- just members). She told him-- and his tape recorder: "It was a very positive meeting, a respectful sharing of ideas. And I think a very impressive presentation by our chairs.
The House Republicans' clod-like Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy, went running to Fox yesterday to complain to Maria Bartiromo about Justin Amash. "Those who know Justin Amash," whined McCarthy, "this is exactly what he wants. He wants to have attention. Now, you have got to understand Justin Amash. He's been in Congress quite some time. I think he's only ever asked one question in all the committees that he's been in. He votes more with Nancy Pelosi than he ever votes with me. It's a question whether he's even in our Republican Conference as a whole.
In 2012, the Democrats decided to try beating Justin Amash with someone more socially conservative, an especially vile Blue Dog type (think Lipinski) named Steve Pestka. How much more conservative is Pestka? Amash isn't homophobic. Pestka is a real hater and refers to gay people in incredibly vicious ways ("fudge-packer," etc).
This morning, Mitt Romney told Jake Tapper on CNN that he doesn't feel the Senate is ready to remove Trump but that Justin Amash was courageous when he called for Trump's impeachment. "I respect him. I think it’s a courageous statement. But I believe that to make a case for obstruction of justice, you just don’t have the elements that are evidenced in this document... The American people just aren’t there. And I think those who are considering impeachment also have to look at the jury, which would be the Senate.
Ostensibly, the Tom Steyer ad above is about impeachment. But to me it's about more than just about impeachment. It's about what Team Todd was referring to when they asked where the beef is, now that the House Democrats have been in office for 5 months. Let's get one thing clear-- McTurtle, a dedicated Stalinist, has already announced he will not allow any House-passed legislation to be debated or voted on in the Senate.
Coup d'état by Nancy OhanianRepublican senators are demanding to know what's going on... before they uniformly rubber-stamp Trump or Bolton ginning up an unconstitutional war against Iran. To be fair, Rand Paul might vote against it, while a fake Democrat or two-- Sinema and/or Manchin-- votes for it. If McTurtle even allows a vote.
