If you want to eat local, in season, often-organic food at a local café in Colorado, you can. And guess what? It doesn’t matter if you can’t pay. Seeds Community Café has a pay-as-you-can, pay-it-forward model that helps people with what they call a ‘hand-up,’ not a hand-out.
The café brings all walks of life together in a way that supports the environment, and sustainable agriculture, too.
The cafe never turns away a hungry person.
In an attempt to improve buying decisions for its customers, Grocery chain Aldi announced earlier this year that it will be replacing the candy in checkout aisles with more healthful alternatives, such as trail mix, granola bars, and dried fruit. The change will go into effect by the end of 2016 in each of the company’s 1,500 stores.
Americans waste a lot of food. So much, that it adds up to about 62 million tons every year. With such wastefulness, it’s time to get serious about a solution.
In an effort to eradicate all food wasted in its stores and distribution centers, Tesco says that it will work with 5,000 different charities in the UK in order to give all unsold food to those who need it most.

Figures recently released by the company suggest that this new program could save 55,400 tonnes of food that were thrown away at its stores and distribution centers across the country in 2015.
"We believe no food that could be eaten should be wasted.”

Whole Foods is in a world of hurt after the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs revealed in late June that the company was overcharging customers for some of its pre-weighed packages in New York City. [1]
The company’s stock fell more than 30% this year and trading is around $34.50 – the lowest level in nearly four years. Whole Foods’ stock fell another 5% after executives apologized for the pricing snag and promised that it would never happen again.
