An FBI informant reported that during a protest at the state capitol in May 2020 against Whitmer's continued use of COVID emergency powers, the FBI told the Michigan police to stand down and let the protesters, some of whom were armed, into the building.

Rep. Maddock wrote on Facebook that Whitmer has committed the following impeachable conduct: violated Constitutional rights, ignored court orders, weaponized contract tracing databases to aid Democrat campaigns, and caused the premature death of thousands of frightened elderly who died alone in nursing homes.

The Michigan Supreme Court decided that Governor Gretchen Whitmer violated her constitutional authority by continuing to issue orders to combat COVID-19 without the approval of elected state lawmakers. The order ends Whitmer's ability to use emergency powers without legislative approval.
