SCHOHARIE COUNTY, NEW YORK (Analysis) – In a conversation I overheard recently, one of many such discussions that are being waged nowadays, the topic was professional basketball player Enes Kanter, a member of the NBA’s New York Knicks and a native of Turkey.
But no matter what environmentalists do, our best efforts are insufficient. We’re losing badly, on every front. Those in power are hell-bent on destroying the planet, and most people don’t care. Frankly, I don’t have much hope. But I think that’s a good thing. Hope is what keeps us chained to the system, the conglomerate of people and ideas and ideals that is causing the destruction of the Earth.
In a surprise move, former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, is stepping down as executive chairman of the search giant’s parent company Alphabet amid reports that his personal life is being scrutinized. He says he will remain with the company as a technical advisor. An unnamed source said that the move would allow him to have a more “hands-on role” in developing artificial intelligence for defense.
