Former President Jimmy Carter Visits 10-Year-Old Cancer Survivor

Ten-year-old Carter Beckhard-Suozzi’s dream has been to meet former President Jimmy Carter for a few years. And not long ago, he got his wish granted from the aptly named Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he was whisked to the Carter Center in Atlanta.
Jimmy Carter, who is also a cancer survivor, rushed to give the young boy a “warm hug” as soon as they saw one another.
Beckhard-Suozzi’s mother, Jane, said:

Apple and GlaxoSmithKline Team Up for an Arthritis Study

In March of last year, Apple created the ResearchKit, a medical platform which turns the iPhone into a diagnostic tool for clinical trials and studies. Study Suggests Vaginal Ring May Protect Against HIV in Women

A small silicone ring, known as the dapivirine ring, may protect as many as 75 percent of women using it from contracting HIV, the virus that leads to AIDS. The ring is inserted into the vagina and infused with a special antiviral drug, called dapivirine. Researchers say the findings are especially important in countries where there is a cultural taboo for women refusing sex, even with their husbands, and may not have a say in whether or not he wears a condom.

Animal Shelter Uses Pokemon Go Craze for Walking Dogs

An animal shelter in Muncie, Indiana saw the explosion of Pokemon Go within the community. With so many people walking around trying to catch rare Pokemon, and tons of dogs that need walking, they’ve come up with a genius idea. They have asked local Pokemon Go hunters to come down to the shelter and pick out a dog to walk while they’re playing the game, utilizing the new craze for the well-being of homeless dogs.
