The California Supreme Court ruled recently that under California law, consumers have a right to file lawsuits alleging food products are falsely labeled “organic.”
The ruling overturned a lower court decision that banned such lawsuits on the basis that they were outdated and not permitted by federal law.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently reposted a tweet from a follower blaming his trailing numbers in a new Iowa poll on genetically modified corn that “creates issues in the brain.” The GMO issue looms large for the candidates currently in the running.
Russia has just announced a game-changing move in the fight against Monsanto’s GMOs, completely banning the use of genetically modified ingredients in any and all food production.
In other words, Russia just blazed way past the issue of GMO labeling and shut down the use of any and all GMOs that would have otherwise entered the food supply through the creation of packaged foods (and the cultivation of GMO crops).
The state of Vermont decided that it would listen to the people and require foods containing genetically modified ingredients (GMOs) to be labeled. But with the help of the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association (GMA), Monsanto and other biotech interests launched a lawsuit against the bill that was passed. Thankfully, Vermont stood strong and is fighting back.
Did you know that many ‘smaller’ and even ‘health-conscious’ food brands are actually owned by mega-conglomerates like Coca-Cola? Not only are these huge companies trying to get a piece of the health-market with ‘healthy’ brands, but they are doing so while striking down our right to know what’s in our food via GMO labeling.

As the Senate moves to vote on the DARK Act legislation that could ban mandatory GMO labeling in the United States, it’s time to demand that President Obama keep his 2007 promise to label GMOs.

Statewide GMO labeling may soon become illegal in the United States if the Senate passes the ‘DARK Act,’ which is formally known as the ‘Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act.’ We need your help to make it so this bill doesn’t become law.
