This insanity has even spread to the other side of the Atlantic where there have been protests and where the BBC has been pushing the ludicrous Black Lives Matter/racism narrative. Racial politics in America are a simmering pot waiting to boil over, they have been for decades. This is only exacerbated as the poverty created by the (totally unnecessary) lockdown starts to hit home. As the weather gets hot, and jobs dry up and prices skyrocket and the small businesses close...people will get tense. They will get angry. The extrajudicial killing of African-American man George Floyd by Police Officer Derek Chauvin sparked a storm of protests both in Minneapolis and across the country. These have included large peaceful demonstrations, but also arson, destruction of property and looting. Police have abandoned multiple precincts in the face of overwhelming popular rage.
Republicans and Democrats alike have come together to condemn a new law proposed by the Chinese government that would likely stifle the year-long protests in Hong Kong. The State Department, headed by former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, published a press release yesterday presenting the city as a “bastion of freedom” amidst a repressive state, claiming Beijing was undermining the one country, two systems framework established at the end of British colonial rule in 1997.

Riots broke out in Minneapolis, and fire crews responded to 30 intentionally set blazes during the protests, including at least 16 structure fires. Violence spread a few miles away to a Target store in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood where police said 50 to 60 people rushed the store attempting to loot it.
