2nd Texas Man Infected with Flesh-Eating Bacteria in 2 Weeks

A Buda, Texas, man has been hospitalized with a flesh-eating infection after spending a day at the beach with his family. He is the second Texas man to be sickened by the bacteria in two weeks.
Adrian Ruiz, 42, spent the day with his family in Port Aransas, Texas, near Corpus Christi, to celebrate Father’s Day. But that Sunday, Ruiz developed a fever and headache and noticed a rash on his leg.

Lisa Alamia underwent jaw surgery for an overbite just before Christmas of 2015. But when the Texas-born and raised mother of three woke up, she had a British accent.
Her husband, Richard, noticed that his wife was sounding unlike her usual self and asked her doctor if the accent would go away. The doctor assured the couple that within a couple of weeks, she’d regain her normal speech patterns, but that didn’t happen. Lisa still speaks with an English accent that baffles many people where she lives.

Teen Dies from Rare Brain-Eating Amoeba

On June 19, an 18-year-old teen from Ohio died after contracting an infection caused by a rare brain-eating amoeba.
Local, state, and national officials are investigating the death, which occurred after the young woman, Lauren Seitz, visited the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Though Seitz lives in Ohio, she was visiting some southern states on a youth mission music tour with her church, Church of the Messiah United Methodist Church. The church is located in Westerville, Ohio.
