In  May 2014, two 12 year old girls lured a third into the woods and stabbed her 19 times. This was the utterly bizarre Slender Man case. One blow connected with Payton Leutner’s heart; a millimetre the other way, and she would have been killed, but incredibly she survived and made a miraculous recovery, though of course no one recovers totally psychologically from something so horrific.

If convicting innocent men of rape is not bad enough, exculpating women convicted of murder on compelling evidence is no better if not worse, yet that is the mission of the misnamed Centre For Women’s Justice.  Although this pernicious organisation has had charitable status since only 2016, it has been around a lot longer than that as Justice For Women, with which it is synonymous. Set up by the lawyer Harriet Wistrich and her lover Julie Bindel, its first big win came in 1995 when it secured the release of Emma Humphreys.
