For many decades, any politician daring to fight for economic justice was liable to be denounced for engaging in “class warfare.” It was always a grimly laughable accusation, coming from wealthy elites as well as their functionaries in corporate media and elective office. In the real world, class warfare — or whatever you want to call it — has always been an economic and political reality.
Nancy Pelosi, who has great taxpayer-funded health insurance and has a net worth of $120 million, doesn't understand what Medicare does for people; why should she? Since I started getting it, I've been shocked when I talk with members of Congress who are absolutely clueless about the massive-- and massively important-- program they fund. It's time for Pelosi to move along. Didn't she promise to give up the speaker's gavel?

The latest polls have shown Elizabeth Warren edging ahead of the corrupt Wall Street candidate, Status Quo Joe. Although many of the worst establishment Democrats would bee willing to take her as long as it means not Bernie, some are as unhappy about her-- an inconvenience and a significant threat-- as they are about Bernie-- an actual existential threat to billionaire control of the country.

Lipinski and BustosIn 2018, it was shocking when incumbents in Congress, led by Jan Schakowsky in the House and Bernie in the Senate came out and endorsed progressive Democratic reformer Marie Newman in a Chicagoland primary that pitted her against longtime incumbent, reactionary Dan Lipinski, an anti-Choice, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-healthcare Republican-lite Blue Dog.
I think we can all agree that Status Quo Joe, Kamala and Mayo Pete are suitable replacement for Trump. We deserve someone as good as he has been bad. And there are just two 2020 candidates that fit that description: Bernie and Elizabeth. I pray they form a ticket. If they don't, I'll be voting for Bernie in the primary. If Elizabeth wins I'll be celebrating almost as much as I would have been for Bernie.
The current round of presidential debates is packed with plans, programs, promises, claims and counter-claims. The question, as always, is which candidates are we to believe. The closer we get to an election, unscrupulous candidates tailor what they say to what the voters want to hear. The problem is separating the flimflam pols from the honest ones.
