Ecuador Election: Lenin Moreno and Julian Assange are winners

The final round of Presidential elections in Ecuador is complete and with over 95% of votes counted, leftist Lenin Moreno has won with 51.11% of the vote. His right wing rival Guillermo Lasso has demanded a recount and has made accusations of rigging saying that, “They’ve toyed with popular will”.

After winning first round of Ecuadorian elections, Moreno issues warning to Assange

It is always a pity when a generally good man says something foolish. After winning the first round of votes in Ecuador’s election, Lenin Moreno has done just that in an exclusive interview with RT.
Moreno restates his county’s desire to protect Julian Assange on humanitarian grounds, but he omits to mention that the reason that outgoing President Correra grew sympathetic to Mr. Assange is because Wikileaks helped expose US meddling in Ecuadorian internal politics.

Moreno set to win first round of Ecuador’s presidential election. Assange is safe

Ecuadorians have voted in the first round of their Presidential election. This was the first election since 2006 in which Ecuadorians will not be able to vote for popular leftist leader Rafael Correa.
With 80% of the votes counted Correa’s former Vice President and endorsee Lenín Moreno is leading for votes with over 38%. It is now a certainty that he will have won the first round of votes. All that remains to be seen is if it will get enough votes to avoid a second round in April.
