I’m old enough to vividly recall Joe McCarthy’s demagogic smear of prominent and other figures, baselessly slandering them, ruining careers — using mass deception to further his political ambitions.
I watched some of the 1954 Army/McCarthy witch-hunt hearings on national television, a deplorable spectacle that helped bring him down.
Targeted enemies were falsely called “card-carrying communists,” others smeared as “loyalty risks,” including hundreds of actors, authors, directors, and others on the so-called Hollywood blacklist.

The furor over Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call to Volodymyr Zelensky has not been easy to figure out. Contrary to initial reports, the president said nothing about a quid pro quo, and he didn’t push the Ukrainian president to “dig up dirt” on Joe Biden either.

When it comes to marketing, one of the most basic and yet most important skills is the ability to turn your weakness into a strength or more importantly the enemy’s strength into a weakness. If your enemy is experienced call him “old and out of touch” if he is young and brash call him “dangerous and inexperienced”. In a war of words always go right for the enemy’s strength head on.

Moving ahead with the impeachment of Donald Trump is a good idea. Indeed, the fact that it is moving forward is a sign of the deep fissures in the ruling class. They are very divided. Even if it is done within the limited parameters hoped for by Pelosi and other mainstream Democrats, the process should expose the criminality of one party of the ruling class and the venality of both.

With the “Russiagate” hoax proving to be the “most fraudulent political scandal in American history,” as Princeton Professor Stephen Cohen puts it, now we have emerging an alternative – “Ukrainegate”.
President Donald Trump is being accused of abusing his White House office to put pressure on Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to dig into alleged corrupt dealings by Joe Biden, the top Democratic candidate for the forthcoming presidential elections in 2020.

But if they’re trying to shoehorn some broad or flippant statement by Trump into a bribery charge, it will crash with voters.

I didn’t watch the last Democratic presidential primary debates because I figured that without Tulsi Gabbard in there shaking things up it would be a boring, vapid parade of insubstantial verbal foam, and I love myself too much to go through such a horrible ordeal.
